Palm Sunday

By Joe Palathunkal
As I moved with people
Holding green coconut fronds,
Recalled the first Sunday
When people spread their cloaks
On the road to Mount of Olives
And the luckiest donkey
Smiled and walked
For
He would no more be
The stupid donkey,
The palm of the most intelligent
Has touched his back
When the people who saw his works
Shouted: “Blessed is the king
Who comes in the name of the Lord.”
Deed will speak out
Even through stones
When the evil forces
Will try to silence them.
Palm Sunday is the victory of the palm
That touched and healed
The untouchable.
