Light of Padua

The wonder worker of Padua grew
From the soil of charity
Who never demanded and never denied
And his actions speak the gospel of charity.

Light of Padua

By Joe Palathunkal
Where charity lives there God smiles
That is the truth of faith
And when it is kept outside the door
Every place of prayer becomes sans soul.

The man from Padua knew this better
When his actions spoke for justice
To make laws and norms to save
The victims of money-sharks

And today when millions stand before him
With folded hands and long list of needs
They may hardly remember
The wonder worker of Padua grew

From the soil of charity
Who never demanded and never denied
And his actions speak the gospel of charity
As he holds its Incarnation in his arms

And the darkness of unconcern moves away
When the light of Padua shines forth
And the restored leg of the remorseful youth
Restores faith to everyone in tears
And the lost and missing will find their way

When Anthony shows them light to go forward
With Him who is the Way and Light.

(Today June 13 Feast of the wonderworker Saint Anthony of Padua.)
