The Sacred Heart Church of Chandannagar is a parish in the archdiocese of Calcutta in West Bengal, India.

Chandannagar was a French colony and therefore the Sacred Heart Church was designed by the French architect Jacques Duchatz and was inaugurated on 27 January 1884 by Most Rev. Dr.Paul Goethals S. J. in the presence of Rev. Pere Corbet, Prefect Apostolic of the French establishments in India.

Even by the year 1753 Chandannagar had a sizeable Catholic population of 4000 or more. Shaped like a cross the church has excellent glass works in windows, skylights and other architectural attractions for the tourists as well as the faithful.

Actually the church was started by the Augustinian monks way back in 1688 but only later it was dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is a parish with a sizable number of Catholics.

In front of the church a statue of Sacred Heart welcomes you and this two century old church also has a statue of Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
