A co-production of the Focus Features and Vatican is to present a new movie centring a personal journey with Pope Francis. More than a biographical documentary, it is to focus on his reform works, counsels and ideas.
Wim Wenders, a German filmmaker and playwright is directing and scripting the film which is set for a domestic release on May 18, 2018.
The film projects a face-to-face interaction of the Pope with the viewers, and voices his response to many a query from "farmers and workers, refugees, children and the elderly, prison inmates, and those who live in favelas and migrant camps".
Vatican's communication's head, Msgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò gave a kickstart to the production which is to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Pope Francis' Pontificate. The international distribution rights of the movie are vested with Universal Pictures International.
