Patriarch Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II to visit India on May 22

The Jacobite Syrian Christian Church of India has invited His Holiness Ignatius Aphrem II, Patriarch of the Syriac Orthodox Church to India in view of the Supreme Court verdict on the disputes between the two sects of Malankara Church.

Fr. Varghese Kallapara of ‘Quest 4 Peace’ Secular International Samithy 2017, says that the Partriarch will not be engaging in public meetings during his visit; neither will he visit churches or parishes.

The visit is purely to resolve the “special circumstances” prevailing in the Malankara Church, says Jacobite church trustee Thampu George Thukalan.

The Patriarch will celebrate mass at the Puthenkurisu Patriarchal Centre, and is likely to visit the President and Prime Minister of India and the CM of Kerala, says Fr. Varghese Kallapara.
