North Indian bishops lead candle light prayers in Delhi

28 Catholic bishops from north India held candle light prayers in front of the Sacred Heart Cathedral gate in New Delhi on April 18, demanding justice for the victims of rape, murdered in cold-blood.

The prayer was organized in association with Signis India and Delhi Archdiocesan Youth Commission.

Chairman of the Hindi Region Bishop, Archbishop William D’Souza of Patna, says that “the situation in the country over the victimization of minors and vulnerable persons call for creation of a clear conciseness which would help prevent such incidents occurring in the country,” adding that “the only sure resort we have for Justice is prayer”.

While the others recited Psalms 7, Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi lit the first candle, spreading the light of Christ, thereby displacing the darkness of “injustice”.
