The 53-year old Indonesan priest, Fr. Paul Budi Kleden ghas been appointed the new Superior General of the Rome-based congregation, Society of the Divine Word.
Fr. Kleden is the second Asian to head the 143-year old congregation. He will be replacing the German priest, Fr. Heinz Kulueke, who was in office for five years.
He was born to late Petrus Sina Kleden and Dorotea Sea Halan on November 16, 1965 at Waibalum-Larantuka, Flores, Indonesia.
He joined Divine Word Society in 1985 at Ledalero, afetr having completed his studies in SDK-Waibalun, Larantuka and the minor seminary at Hoken.
Having done his theological studies at St. Gabriel, Austria, he was ordained priest there on May 15, 1993.
He has served as Asst. parish priest at Steinhausen and then at Auw(Switzerland) during 1993-1996. During 1996-2000, he did his doctoral studies in systematic theology at Albert Ludwig’s University in Freiburg, Germany.
He taught theology at Ledalero from 2001, and has been a member of the provincial council from 2005-2008. He was elected the director of post-graduate program in Ledalero in 2011.
