Bishop Sebastian Kallupura appointed as the Coadjutor Bishop of Patna

Pope Francis has appointed H.E. Most Rev. Sebastian Kallupura (64), the current Bishop of Buxar, Bihar as Coadjutor Bishop of the Archdiocese of Patna. The ecclesiastical provision was made public in Rome on Friday, 29th June, 2018, around 15:30 hours, IST.

Born on July 14, 1952 at Teekoy, Palai Diocese, Kerala, he was ordained priest on May 14, 1984. He did his seminary studies at the Minor Seminary in Palai for Patna Diocese, after having joined in 1971.

He who holds a B. Ed. degree from Bombay University, has served as Parish Priest in several parishes, as Assistant Treasurer, Director of the Archdiocesan Social Apostolate and Director of the Bihar Social Forum, in the Archdiocese of Patna .

Having elected the Bishop of Buxar on April 7, 2009, he was ordained on June 21, 2009. He has served as a priest for 34 years and a Bishop for 9 years.
