Archdiocese of Bombay observes the feast of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour

St. Michaels Church in Mahim, known popularly as the Mahim Church, celebrated the feast of Our Lady Of Perpetual Succour today, a devotion introduced in the church by Fr. Edward Placidus Fernandes, in 1948.

Fr. Edward who served in Mahim Church as Vicar at the time, during his travel to Rome brought with him a copy of the original image of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour at the Church of St. Alphonsus in Rome, to Mahim Church.

Mumbaikers throng the church for the famed Wednesday novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, be it rain or shine, natural calamities or war.

The churches in Manori, Chembur and Ulhasnagar, which comes under the Archdiocese of Bombay, are dedicated to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, whose “miraculous intervention” has changed the lives of many a believer.
